Haryana first to launch vocational courses in schools

Vocational courses at schools level including IT, retail, security and automobile would be launched in Haryana in five schools of eight districts. Haryana will be the first to launch vocational courses under National Vocational Education and Qualification Framework (NVEQF) scheme at the school level.

"The National Vocational Education Qualification Framework would be developed by 2014 and the school students would be entitled to courses related to automobile, environment, power, music etc," HRD ministerKapil Sibal had said earlier at education summit held at CII in Chandigarh.

"The students of ninth-standard should be entitled to vocational courses related to music, IT, automobile, textile, pharma etc depending on the preference of the student," he said.

In Haryana the pilot project would be launched on September 3 by the Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal and Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

An official spokesperson said that this unique project would be launched from Government Model Sanskriti School, Sushant Lok, Gurgaon. He said that it would be started in eight districts of Haryana namely Faridabad, Rohtak, Ambala, Palwal, Mewat, Yamunanagar, Jhajjar and Gurgaon.

This project would be implemented in five schools of every district. He said that under this new project, apart from providing education, the school children would now undergo four kind of vocational courses including IT, retail, security and automobile.
